How to obtain a higher education using a cheaper, easier, and more convenient alternative.
California State’ Current State (and your alternatives)
California has one of the highest populations of college
campuses in the United States. So many in fact that you would actually try to find a discipline that isn’t
offered somewhere. After all this is California not South Dakota. Even our
middle of nowhere cities like Bakersfield has colleges’ fantastic colleges.
Unfortunately it is an overwhelming task to find a college
that fits all of your needs. The information listed below will help point you
in the right direction to obtain the higher education that is required for any well paying career.
It’s clear that by obtaining any type of degree, from
Associates to a Masters, you are basically placing yourself into a higher
income bracket. Only you know your passion and college and create an
opportunity for you to live off of doing whatever it is you love.
Give the California State
University Website a look. You can search by location and see what each
major is offered by all twenty-two campuses. The CSU schools provide a great
education at the lower cost, but are often commuter schools where you really
need to go out of you way to network and get involved. Although Cal State
Chico, which is nick named “The Zoo” made Playboys
Top Party Schools for 2009. Something you may want to consider. If
California had one, Long Beach, San Diego, and Fullerton would top the list,
even though those three are commuter schools.
College is a great time, ask anyone that’s been. Just be
sure to prioritize yourself with studies and socializing and you’ll come a
better person.
Unfortunately California
college tuition in 2009 is going up 10%, which has been becoming an annual
trend over the past years and is expected to go up again in 2010. So unless you have a trust fund expect
your loans combined with interested to be a black cloud for years until you pay
it off.
BUT don’t let that get you down. There are solutions! Consider looking into universities such
as Keiser
University or Grand
Canyon University. While not
quite a household name like ASU they offer the same types of accreditation employers
are looking for, and for much less. Why haven’t you heard of these places?
Many just started popping up in the nineties whereas many state colleges and
many private schools have been established for fifty plus years. The majority
offer everything from an Asscosiates Degree through a Masters Degree, some even
a PhD.
For schools that offer online
and in-house college paths a decent list can be found here. This list is
specifically filter for teachers but the drop down menu at the top allows for
more advanced degree listings. Even USC offers an online program which should
squash any reservations you may have.
If you are currently in the process of finding a college or
still debating on even going, consider the above information. Many reputable
sources are predicting that colleges will transition into the
online spectrum in just a matter of years. If that hasn’t swayed you into
at least looking through the above list maybe these
