Engagement - A Beautiful Association

An engagement is something that happens between couples, who intend to get married. It is a mutual agreement of two people, who accept each other and are willing to share their lives together. It's a life they have chosen to spend together. They have an unsaid pledge, that they shall grow old together. An engagement is something which happens before marriage; mostly it is a promise for marriage. The length of the engagement period depends on a lot of factors. It is different in different cultures.  
          
Earlier parents had the responsibility of fetching an appropriate partner for their child. The future of their child depended on the choices the parents made for them. Even today in many cultures, the parent's approval is very important for a marriage. People have become independent and hardly accept parental judgments on their future brides or grooms, but parent's approval is quite important for some. People, who are engaged, usually call their partner's as fiance and fiancees respectively.

There are a lot of creative innovations with the rings. There are rings that look separate on the fingers of the two people; they look complete when they are joined together. Also, some people will engrave cute messages either inside the circumference of the rings or on the outside.

People use different means of letting the world know about their engagement, some people prefer a simple affair, some like to have an extravagant affair. A woman proposing to a man for marriage is a little uncommon; it is mostly the man who will make the first move. The time period between the time of proposal and of the marriage is termed as the engagement period. It is one of the most blissful and enchanting experiences for most of the romantic couples.
        
Life is difficult, however it is easier when you have somebody to be there for you, some one who you can rely on, somebody who will stand by you no matter what. If you have found such a person, do not wait any longer to get committed to them. You can even consider getting married.
