Admission Procedure and Application Deadlines for Aeronautical
Engineering
Eligibility:-
Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Maths – PCM is necessary. After
Class XII Aeronautical Engineering can be pursued with mechanical and
electronics branches as specialized areas of study. Further specialization can
be pursued at the post-graduate level. After Class XII one can also opt for a
diploma in Aircraft Maintenance engineering. Diploma holders can acquire
degrees on clearing the exams of the Aeronautical Society of India.
The candidates are selected through a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
conducted in January and May every year. Some colleges conduct their own
entrance tests and have minimum requirements for sitting in the entrance exam.
Aeronautical Engineering Institutes are as follows:-
Best Places for under graduate courses Include -
1.) Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT) in Chennai, Mumbai, Kanpur
and Kharagpur
2.) Punjab
Engineering College,
Chandigarh.
Best Places for Post Graduate courses include -
1.) The Madras Institute of
Technology (MIT) offers a three year Graduate Programme in Aeronautical
Engineering for B Sc students, subject to their having passed Maths and Physics
at the graduation stage.
2.) The Indian Institute of
Science (IIS), Bangalore
has M Tech and Ph D Programmes in aeronautics.
3.) Associate Membership of
the Aeronautical Society of India
Established in 1948, this is a professional body with a large number of
