Cultural studies as the name suggests is all about understanding different cultures in relation to power i.e. the combination of social and political structures of a particular culture that transforms its relation with the rest of the world. Now days cultural studies is a very popular subject amongst studies mostly those who wish to pursue their career in either media or politics. When we talk about cultural studies as a subject then we can’t ignore the element of cultural studies dissertation.

Cultural studies itself is a very broad subject. It is a combination of different fields like economics, literature, communications and others. Therefore it is not difficult to come up with a good topic for cultural studies dissertation, but if you focus on any one aspect then it takes away the beauty of the entire subject. For example if your cultural studies dissertations is circulated around literature of a particular culture then you have probably not done the right job. The trick is to encapsulate all aspects of the subject.  The best example for this can be “globalization”. Here you can incorporate different aspects of cultural studies.

How to go about your cultural studies dissertation?

After the selection of topic, start with a particular question or a statement that captures the attention. Elaborate that and then step by step cover the different aspects of cultural studies. After you have given all the facts based on your literature review, now focus on your findings i.e. what you have gathered purely based on your research. Once you are done with that now come to the solution part i.e. how can it be solved or what is the best way forward in your eyes.

Main points to consider:

1.      The scope of the subject is wide therefore try to come up with a topic that can cover most of the important aspects of the subject in your dissertations.

2.      Always try to write on constructive topics from which you can learn something. It is good to discuss something that happened in the past but it’s a gone case. Therefore focus on something from which you can bring about a change in the future.

3.      In your cultural studies dissertation, always give your conclusion i.e. what you think in the end.
