There is no such thing as standing still in life. If something is not growing it is dying. This is true about every aspect of your life. These are the 4 things you must do for continued personal growth in your life.
1. Challenge Yourself: This means setting goals. Set realistic goals that will cause you to stretch
out of your comfort zone to achieve. Set SMART goals. Smart is an acronym for Specific-
Measurable- Attainable- Realistic- and Timely. Challenging yourself by setting goals will cause you
to grow in the process of reaching that goal.
2. Self Analysis: Self Analysis goes hand in hand with setting goals. The first time I ever did a
self-analysis was when I came across the pages in the book "Think and Grow Rich" that listed the
31 causes of failure. Doing a self analysis causes us to look at our strengths and weaknesses.
Learning to leverage or build upon your weaknesses while utilizing your strengths will cause you to
grow.
3. Ask Yourself Questions: A big part of self analysis is to ask yourself questions. A lot of times
we get stuck in certain areas of our lives. The answer to any problem always starts with a
question. The answer might not come immediately. The answer could come in a matter of days,
months, or even years. Finding the answers to questions about your life will cause you to grow.
Some good basic questions to ask are: "What do I want?" "Where do I want to be?" How do I get
what I want or to where I want to be? "How?" is a very empowering question. It causes you to
reach outside of your current knowledge and experience to find the answer.
Many people are programmed to give up or make excuses when the question of how to get what
they want arises. It may seem too hard or maybe even impossible. They would rather continue
doing what they don't want to do, instead of going outside their current knowledge and
experience to find the answer. That leads us to the final point.
4. Never Stop Learning: As you continue to learn you will find more and more answers to your
questions. How is it possible for a high school drop out to become a multi-millionaire? He never stopped learning.
Too often we make the mistake of associating learning only to traditionional means of education,
such as schools, universities, and institutions. You should also read books, articles, and
newsletters about your subject of interest. Also listen to educational audios, watch videos, and attend seminars.
The most powerful way to learn is through experience. You must take ACTION to gain experience.
Beware of the trap of being rendered inactive because of Information Overload! Develop the habit of applying as you learn.
Personal Growth is important to all of us. As you grow, you become bigger than the problems in
your life, you learn to deal effectively with difficult people, you begin to influence more people, and
you ultimately live a happier, and more productive life.
Much Success,
