Have you ever seen someone who was super successful in your industry of choice. Have you ever
thought to yourself, I am smarter than, more talented than, more honest than, or better than him
or her? Well then why does that person seem to have all of the success while you are struggling?
How is it that someone less talented than, less articulate than, less honest than, or less intelligent
than you in a certain occupation or profession seem to effortlessly have more success than you?
The simple, one word, answer is INFLUENCE.
We are all generally born with the same level of influence. The only exceptions that I can think of
are people born into extreme wealth or royalty of some sort. Well let's be realistic. How many
people does that actually happen to?
The truth of the matter is that the majority of us come into this world with the same amount of
influence. None.
So the question then becomes, "How does one go about acquiring a certain level of influence over
a period of time?"
The first thing you must do is to learn to influence yourself.
We are bombarded daily with messages by people and things that are intentionally trying to
influence us.
They tell us what we should do, what they want us to do, how we should do something, the best
way to do something, and so on.
Influencing yourself is the process of realizing your purpose, what you want for yourself, and
having a clear plan and strategy of how to acquire it. Only then will you be able to intentionally
attract the people and things that will help you to achieve your goals.
Another benefit of influencing yourself is that you won't be easily swayed, knocked off track, or
distracted, by any and every thing that promises you a bigger and better way to do something.
Only after you influence yourself, can you then start to effectively influence others. Who do you
influence now? How do you influence them?
One way to gain influence is through experience. The most experience does not necessarily go to
the oldest person. The most experience goes to the person who takes the most action.
Taking massive action towards your goals is the quickest way to become experienced in any
profession.
Another way to gain influence is through knowledge. Most highly influential people are also
continuous learners.
They learn by reading books, manuals, articles, newsletters, and anything they can get their hands
on about their subject of interest.
They learn by listening to audios, watching videos, and attending seminars. They also learn by
listening to people who are more knowledgeable than them.
There are also several tools of influence that you can use to your advantage. These tools of
influence can sometimes and in some ways be used as a shortcut to success.
Some people study and learn to use the tools of influence to acquire the things that they want
more quickly. This is called leverage.
The problem occurs when people become fake, self-serving, and manipulative. Usually their own
habits will eventually catch up to them, and lead to their downfall.
You too have the ability to gain influence, power, respect, admiration, and all of your heart's
desires...but please understand, that the most powerful influence occurs when you are real with
yourself, and real with other people.
Much Success,
