Of all the
new tools and machines that have been finding their way to market in recent
decades, the one that has been possibly garnering the greatest amount of
attention, news reports and write-ups, is the Kangaloader line out of Australia. They
manufacture a series of mini-loaders that require that an operator stand on the
back platform rather than be seated in a cab.
The
benefits of this standing arrangement are twofold. First, by eliminating the
cab all together, it allows far more functions relevant to the actual purpose
of the machine, in spite of its smaller size. Also, once a person actually
finds him or herself standing on one while it’s running, they can then use
their body weight to assist in performing tasks. Lean in when scooping and lean
back when lifting for instance.
The
original concept of the first prototype mini skid steer loader never was of a
machine to compete against larger heavier conventional machines. Rather, the
first designs were created to fill a need for a smaller skid steer loader. Even
smaller than a machine like the Bobcat. A smaller more adaptable machine that
could be easily loaded, offloaded and operated by just one person.
Public
response has been positive from the very beginning. In fact today, as it stands
right, now the Kanga-Kid which is the smallest model in the Kangaloader lineup
is the #1 top selling mini skid steer loader on the entire planet. Outselling
all others. It features a 16 hp twin-V Honda engine and is also available with
tracks or four wheels. Even so, it's the actual attachments that draw a sizable
share of the public attention.
Of course
there is an entire lineup of attachments that are designed for common outdoor
use. However; what many people simply aren't aware of, is the number and
quality of amazing attachments that have been designed, tested and proven for
inside or covered jobs. A stellar example would be the commercial grade vinyl
and tile stripper that requires just one man to connect up to the front end.
The Kanga
Vinyl Stripper plows easily through vinyl and linoleum tiles leaving nothing
but clear stripped concrete in its tracks. Also the Kangaloder's size and
maneuverability makes it the ideal vehicle for maneuvering around embedded
floor obstacles. Also the blade never needs resharpening because it sharpens
itself on the floor. Simply flip it over and you have a brand new edge.
The perfect
sister attachment to accompany the Kanga Vinyl Stripper is the Schibeci Poly
Planer. This is another commercial grade tool that attaches easily to the front
end of a Kangaloader. It cuts, levels and polishes and is designed to do this
on even the hardest of surfaces such as asphalt and concrete.
