In this age of the internet most people with online business use online marketing techniques to promote their websites. They use Adwords, and other pay per click methods to build traffic to their website. Website owners build their websites with the right amount of keywords with the right placement so that the search spiders will find their website and rank it higher than their competitor websites. But what about posters?

But many online managers neglect one of the oldest most effective ways of promotion, posters. Yes, posters might seen old fashion and ineffective but posters placed in the right areas will get more traffic to your website than you might think. And outside of your cost for the paper and the printing and the posting, posters are one of the most cost effective ways to promote your online business.

You might also hire a company to place the posters for you. But you might want to do this yourself because you want to place them where you know people interested in your product frequently visit. Where you place your posters depends on your business. If your website is about a work from home opportunity you might place posters in a laundry mat. People there might be looking for extra income so they will read your poster and then have the time to write down your website.

You might also want to create a poster with tear off tags on the bottom with you website address written on it. People can then tear off your website address without having to write it down. This makes it easier for them. You want to tear off one or two tags yourself so people will think that some are already interested. Another good place to hang your posters is on bus stop waiting areas. Many times bus stops have a small shelter people sit under. While waiting for a bus they will read your poster.

You want to make sure you understand the local ordinances regarding posters however. If the city you are thinking about prohibits the hanging of posters you want to make sure you do not get a fine. Many times you can go to unincorporated parts of cities and have no problem. Counties have less strict rules and regulations than most cities. Look at a good map book to see if an area is in a city or county.

If you make your own posters, use a gold color background with black print. This stands out and people see this color combination as high prestige look. You might have your posters professionally printed. You might hire a company to place the posters for you. But you want to make sure this is within your advertising budget.

Part of the reason you are using posters is to save money. An online marketing campaign can get expensive. Those pay per clicks can add up fast. So you might want to print your posters and hang them yourself. Plus rather than sitting behind a computer all day, you will get outside for awhile.

Make sure your posters are easy to read and that they have a compelling message. Give people a reason to visit your website when they get to their computer or pull out there mobile and look you up right there. Also, make sure you have an easy to read and remember domain name that people will notice on your poster.
