Acne is a condition which can leave permanent scars on a person’s skin just like injuries.  Acne scars can be a reminder of some turbulent times in a teenager’s life.  There are two types of acne that can cause acne scars.  These are cystic acne and nodular acne.  Some mildly inflamed acne conditions can also cause scarring.

Acne scars can be severe or mild and its severity depends particularly on the person’s response to this condition.  Age of the person also plays a vital role in the formation of these ugly scars.  Since an elderly person’s skin contains less collagen, acne scars will become more prominent and noticeable as he ages.  Acne scars are certainly ugly to look at and necessary treatment needs to be done to remove or get rid of these marks.  Acne scar treatment may include medical means and surgical means.  Laser acne scar removal is a surgical technique that is used when all other methods fail to work.

Several types of scars occur as a result of acne. Firstly is the type which is raised and secondly the scar is depressed. The former occurs in people who have developed keloids.  Keloid refers to tissue growth which occurs at the site of injury.

The most common scar type is the depressed acne scar and it usually results at the site where there’s less skin tissue.  As a result of spreading of the acne, the skin tissue gets lost and some collagen is also lost.  Even after the acne has healed, a depression remains while new skin tissues grow to replace the lost ones.

The depressed acne scar can be divided into two categories: a boxcar and an ice pick scar.  These kinds of acne do not fade overtime and require surgical processes to get rid of them.  People who are affected by acne scars must know effective and suitable acne scar removal solutions.

For some people it is possible to get rid of acne scars. However, for others the options available for removal are fewer.  In any case, you will need to consult a doctor who can assess your health conditions and prescribe suitable solution to your problem.
