Nestled in the lush hills, Darjeeling is home to a number of places that are worth seeing. We have jotted down a few hot spots that give tourism in Darjeeling a high.

·         Ghoom: Located at two kilometers from Darjeeling is the town of Ghoom. It is at an altitude of around 2,400 m. The importance of the hill arises from the fact that it is home to one of the most popular and old monasteries of the hill resort, Ghoom Gompa Monastery. The monastery has a 15-feet high statue of "Coming Buddha" (Maitreya Buddha). It has images of Buddha’s disciples, Chenrezi and Chongapa. The monastery was built in 1875 by Lama Sherab Gyatso and is largest of the other monasteries viz. Sakyachoeling Gompa and Phin Sotholing Gompa in Ghum.

·         Tea Gardens: Darjeeling aptly known as “Queen of the hills” is known for its lush and beautiful tea gardens. A relaxing evening walk around the tea gardens, amidst nature and exotic aroma of tea plants will whisk you away to an unimaginable place. If you are interested in knowing the process of manufacturing tea then visit any of the tea factories.

·         Tiger Hill: Situated at an altitude of approximately 2590 m, the spell binding view on top of the Tiger Hill will never fail to impress you. Tiger Hill is about 12km from Darjeeling and is a paradise for mountain lovers. You can enjoy the beautiful sunrays playing on the snow capped mountains and experience the state of utopia. On a clear day, you might also see the massive Mt Everest from here. As the sun appears, the color of the mountain changes and it’s an enthralling view.

In addition to these mesmerizing places to see, heritage hotels like Windamere hotel which take you back to the British Era have also played an important role in giving a boost to the tourism in Darjeeling.
