Throughout this article I will discuss what to look for when purchasing a bird cage. There are many things to look for when searching for the perfect cage. I will discuss safety, quality, and much more.

Everybody loves birds. They're just so cool! But have you ever had one as a pet? Oh boy, they've got to be one of the messiest pets possible. If you have a pet bird, then you know what I'm talking about. Cleaning out their poop infested cages, trying to get to every little crammed corner in the cage. Trying to get to their food and water. It's a pain in the you know what. Especially if you have a parrot cage that's hard to work with. When purchasing bird cages, the number one thing to take into consideration is safety, after that, I'd have to say the next important thing is accessibility. How well can you access your cage? Can you reach into that corner? Can you get that last bit of mess over there?

When choosing birdcages or parrot cages, you should always be thinking later down the road. How easy will this be to maintain? When searching for the right cage, make sure the cage has easily accessible trays for quick clean up, and easy to access food, and water. Like most people, no one likes to clean up a birds cage. By making this an easier process, it also makes it a less frequent task. The easier it is to maintain your birds cage, the less likely you are to have to clean it as often.

One of the most important things to watch out for when purchasing a bird cage, is what the cage is made of. Bird cages are usually made of some kind of metal and coated in some type of paint. This is where you need to be careful. After months of ware and tare like most cheap paint, it's going to ware off and chip. This leads to the possibility of your bird inhaling, or swallowing pieces of paint. This is a big no no. Inhaling paint is bad for humans let alone bad for birds. Birds have a much smaller body, and a weaker immune system. Inhaling paint could mean death to a bird.

When searching for the right bird cage, safety should come first. Don't be afraid to ask someone at the store, whether you are purchasing locally, or over the internet. All painted cages should have used the powder coating process. This is the safest most reliable way to paint metal cages. Using this method will prevent paint from waring off and chipping. The best and easiest way to avoid all of this is buy purchasing a stainless steal cage. These are often a bit more expensive then normal, but definitely the safest, most reliable way to go.
