Use the power of visualization to gain greater self-confidence.
Olympic athletes use visualization to improve their performance. They work on the principle that actively picturing the scenario and the desired result is a powerful way of conditioning the mind and body to perform at superior levels.
If it’s good enough for Olympic athletes, then it’s good enough for us. We can use visualization to create a picture of ourselves as a confident self-assured person.
Imagine what it would be like to be so confident that you could cope with any situation at work and in your social life. You could handle yourself in a way that was relaxed and comfortable.
Just reading that paragraph possibly caused you to go inside your mind and create sights sounds and feelings that represented the experience. This is the beginning of visualization. If you can create images, sounds and feelings that represent a confident you, then it will be a powerful catalyst for change in your life.
Think of a situation that you don’t currently feel confident in. You might notice that your heart starts racing. Interesting isn’t it? It was only a thought, and yet your body responded as if you were in the situation. This is why visualization works. When you imagine yourself in a situation, the response of your body is similar to what it would be in the real situation.
Therefore, if you picture the unconfident situation, and superimpose a new visual of you feeling confident and self-assured, you are re-wiring your response to the situation.
While it may take a few times to exert an effect, the results can be amazing. You can literally transform your experiences in situations that previously stressed you.
All that it requires is for you to make a commitment to practice visualization every day. The thing to remember is that visualization is a skill. And like any skill, it gets better with practice.
