Different Tahitian Pearl Necklace Colors

Tahitian pearls are very unique in appearance - most especially its color which really sets it apart from other types of pearls. The first thing that would probably come to your mind when you hear Tahitian pearls are black colored pearls. This is true though but apparently, there are other color variations of Tahitian pearls aside from the elusive black pearl.

Tahitian pearls are classified into two color categories : the body color and overtones. So what's the difference between the two? The body color is the visible color of the pearl on the naked eye. That's what our eyes see when we look at one. Black, green, silver, purple, blue and yellow are among the usual body colors of Tahitian pearls. The overtones on the other hand is the color that seem to coat the pearl's body color. Tahitian pearls may have more than one overtone while some don't have any overtone at all. Some overtone colors include purple, green, pink, blue and gold.

As we can see, Tahitian pearls come in different types and colors so there's a wide array of pearls to choose from. With the various combinations of body colors and overtones, each pearl is definitely one of a kind. The most expensive of all though is the pearl with the same body color and overtone. These pearls are the one that are either completely gold, pink, blue or green. This type of Tahitian pearl is quite rare though so if you find one then you surely are one lucky shopper.
