It could only be Jacqueline Bisset when the jewler Thomas Sabo was seeking illustration for their Charm Club catalogue comprising of approx 50 illustrations.

Commissioned by ad agency AHD to create a Charm Club Girl, Bisset then placed her high society creation in various scenarios: clubbing, shopping etc and an illustrated lifestyle was the end result.

This type of brief is perfectly suited to Bisset’s free flowing style, inspired by the high society charm and decedance of the 40’s and 50’s. The creation of a ‘Charm Club girl’ began with some fashion sketches which was the start point for creating the lifestyle of such a girl, Bisset then placed her high society creation in various scenarios relevant to to that of the Thomas Sabo audience eg. clubbing, shopping etc. beauty, relevence and an illustrated lifestyle was the end result.

Jacqueline, has also completed an illustration for Sabo’s new perfume ad, the Frankfurt based design agency AHD had little or no reservation in their choice of artist - she was flown over last December for a briefing and started the job the following week. Bisset speaks highly of both agency and client in her review of the project, they were great to work with, extremely thorough and gave really good art direction as well as being really easy going.

Dennis Juan Ma one of our newest illustrators has just completed the illustrations for children’s graphic novel called ‘Graffiti Revolution’. Humour and imagination flowed throughout this witty book courtesy of Dennis’s

Simplicity was the brief but humour had to resonate throughout this inspired piece commissioned by a New Zealand education publisher ‘simply literacy’.  The story itself was simple, it talks about how an evil dictatorial duke learnt to be kind and humorous.

In a cheerful and mixed culture style synomous with Dennis, who was born in China but moved to Auckland, New Zealand eight years ago where he studied graphic design illustration, this Japanese and American comic inspired artist took the story into his heart and brought it to life with psycadelic, retro yet contemporary finess with stunning results.

From children’s books illustrations to an architerctural theme,  John Walsom is another illustrator who we proudly represent,  this hughly talented artist has been recreating some of the worlds most famous architectural wonders throughout his career, this month feast your eyes upon the richly textured illuminations of The Savoy Theatre at night. He was commissioned to compose this bustling image which was presented to Sonia Friedman the main producer of the show Legally Blonde, with 25 Limited Edition prints being given to the other producers. He explains “ The painting, like the show, has a very pink theme, with an image of the leading lady cossing the Strand…lots of fun to do

This month our illustration agency has also been delving into the Fantasy world of Steiner Lund, who has recently devolped a new gothic site with us and introduced us to his new spookier side. The illustration art within this portfolio is a step away from Steiner’s photo realistic portfolio, throughout his 25 year career he has been building a portfolio of gothic subject This includes work for publishers, record companies, TV companies and media psychics, which he has assembled here.

Kavel Rafferty takes a light hearted approach to the challenge of an editorial illustration for Boston Magazine US.  The subject matter ‘Fashion masochist’ shows our girl expressing her fashion angle by wearing a blonde afro, this supported an urban fashion feature in the Connoisseur: Style Article section of Boston magazine. The commission by Designer Betsy Halsey sits perfectly with this edgey articl waxing about the kinky blowout style approach to the post racial ‘fro.

If it’s technical illustration you’re after Ian Naylor could well be your man! He brings us yet another outstanding  creation in the form of this animation for the Phillips Drive Systems. See the animation here http://www.phillipsdrivesystems.com/

Tom Davies at Brand Focus, approached Ian to produce this animation to show how the Phillips Screw Company could tighten up the world, from the initial laying of the structure, the segments clanged into place, followed by the giant continents and finally the whole thing was locked tight with a twist from above. Amazing stuff!

Finally, Gail Armstrong once again gives us all a masterclass in paper sculpture. She recently created some incredible illustrations as part of a 3 poster campaign commissioned by Coco Weir at JWT for Kleenex’s internal awards, linked to their “Let It All Out’ drive, based on the idea that Kleenex is there for the good and the bad. Each poster shows two images reflecting the potential positive and negative aspects of the same scenario - YES/NO for love, GLORY/FAILURE for footballer and KING/FOOL for the rockstar. She says: “Lovely job to work on as they gave me free reign to design everything including the type.” Gail has since heard that JWT entered it for the Communication Arts Awards and they've been accepted into the annual.

As well as finding all our artists whole portfolios on www.illustrationweb.com we also make sure that they are being represented across the board and you will find many of their portfolios featured within the sites of Ispot, altpick and folioplanet.
