There are two main types of scholarship: merit and need-based scholarship.

Basically, there are two types of scholarship that an applicant can hope and try to get. They are need-based and merit-based types of scholarship. The main idea and the difference of these two types of scholarship can be found in their names, so it is easy to get a basic understanding of these types of financial aid for students. Also, these two types of aid can be mixed, it means that some colleges or other organizations granting scholarship can take into account both the academic achievement of a student and his/her financial need. Merit scholarship

·        So, this type of financial aid is granted on the basis of academic achievement of a student and this means that “high school academic elite” is eligible for the aid.

They are granted to those students who are very successful in some certain sphere of studies. ·        Fellowships are one more type of merit financial aid granted by a university to those students who are inclined to work on certain academic projects while studying. Usually a faculty member is assigned to supervise the work of a student.    

·        Finally, athletic scholarship is the third type of university financial aid for students who show great achievement in the sphere of sports. The highest demand is for the most popular kinds of sports, such as football or basketball. When applying for athletic scholarship, inquire about the sports priority of the University.
