Many businesses and organisations are increasingly attracted to the superior flight service and reliability offered by private aircraft charter companies. Many potential private aircraft charter customers, however, sometimes demonstrate concern regarding the reliability of flying as a mode of transport. Many would also admit to being distinctly more wary over the safety of a private jet operator than that of a large public carrier.

Most reputable private aircraft charter companies will however go out of their way to ensure that safety is always given the highest priority and will often take great pride in openly demonstrating how their commitment to passenger safety operates in practice.

Private aircraft charter companies will, for example, usually invest much of their resources into employing and training highly skilled maintenance engineers. Some private jet hire companies may hold such a wealth of engineering expertise and equipment that they are even able to offer their maintenance services and facilities to other aircraft operators.

There are usually two reliable indicators of a private jet operator’s level of commitment to the highest safety standards. The first indicator is the number of years the private aircraft charter company has been in operation. Although at first an obvious pointer to a successful safety record, operating longevity will usually also equate to business success and often therefore to more opportunity for investing in high safety standards.

The second indicator is whether the private aircraft charter company doubles at any of its sites as one of the UK industry’s ‘fixed based operators’ or ‘FBOs’. FBOs are aircraft maintenance sites that are recognised by the entire aircraft industry as legitimate service centres. Our facilities at Ocean Sky include one of the few registered FBOs in the UK, and the high engineering and maintenance standards in evidence at all our ground-based jet centres have inspired confidence in our passengers over many years of service.
