A prom night - girls in couture dresses, guys in elegant suits. Definitely a night to remember. But what to do to make it unforgettable? How to ask a girl to go with you? How to dance? First of all don’t panic and think about everything. Here’s all that and more.
Time is ticking away and the prom is getting closer with every day. Everybody talks about couture collection" clothes, dates, rides and all that stuff you are not familiar with. What’s that noise about? Anxiety grows with every minute and you start to feel that your brand new shoes bought for that one night are getting too tight.
Ok, first things first. Find yourself a date and ask her to go to the prom with you. If you are a star quarterback in the high-school football team it is highly possible that you have a date already so you can skip that part. All the others read carefully. Remember, time is not on your side here. The competition doesn’t sleep and the selection is getting smaller with every minute. I am sure you do have some potential types but probably fear draws you back from making a move. Fight it and attack! What is there to loose? Don’t tell me it’s your dignity. It is not true. How will you feel thinking for the rest of your life how it could have been if I only had guts to talk to her? Now is your time. If she says no, that’s fine. Maybe she will be the one to regret her decision in the future seeing you on the cover of The New York Times? You can ask some other girl. And who knows – maybe she will be the right one for you? So, get a grip and do what has to be done. Be a man!
Ok. Let’s assume you have a date. The next tough subject is dancing. It is supposed to be fun and easy but for most of the guys (even quarterbacks, so everybody read carefully) it is a nightmare. They are dancing like their legs were broken. The reason for that is very simple. They just haven’t been practising enough or at all. I know what you will say now: “I don’t feel the rhythm”. That is a no excuse! Don’t let yourself believe that. I bet that some practice at home will make you feel way better about your dancing skills, just give it a try. And if your date is a girl next door that you can trust (the best choice), you can practice together. She will appreciate that – believe me, I know what I am talking about.
Work on your manners. Imagine that tonight is that night. Here’s what you do when you are:
- At her home picking her up – show respect to her dad, ensure him that you will take care of his daughter
- In the car – keep your hands off the girl (at least for now), entertain her with a nice conversation, make her feel relaxed
- At the ball – be a gentleman, take care of your date, do not leave her alone, make her feel special, dance with her – remember that it is a very special night for her, too.
- After the ball – take her home and tell her how great it was that you have spend that night together, if you feel that she enjoyed your company it is the best time to ask her out again. Take that chance. It won’t happen again.
