MAHINDRA has slashed the price of its utility vehicle brand, Logan, by Rs 24,000-Rs 80,000 across petrol and diesel variant. M&M is trying hard to boost its plummeting sales after buying out French automaker Renault's 49% stake.
MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA, auto major of India, slashed the price of its utility vehicle brand, Logan, by Rs 24,000-Rs 80,000 across petrol and diesel variants. M&M is trying hard to boost its plummeting sales after buying out French automaker Renault's 49% stake in their joint venture.
The new prices will be affective from April 26, the company said in its release. According to the release the Euro-3 compliant models will be available for Rs 4.86 lakh, while Euro-4 compliant models will come for Rs 4.89-5.80 lakh. Logan is facing tough competition in its segment, in the year ended on march 31, Logan's sale dropped from 13,423 units to 5,322 units. Although, the entry level sedan segment registered a growth of 14% on year on year basis touching 270,000 sale units. “Last week M&M and Renault ended their joint venture, Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd, which manufactured Logan,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, CEO automotive division. “The buyout of Mahindra Renault will lead to more competent sharing and integration of critical manufacturing functions with the parent firm, and help Logan's price cut” Rajesh added. In strengthening of rupee against Euro will offset the impact of the price cut, as 50% of the car parts are imported from parent unit of Renault. By reducing the price the company is offering a value proposition to those looking to move from a hatchback to a sedan, said Rajesh.
