The Taj Mahal – Agra, Uttar Pradesh

No monuments in the world can dare to stand in comparison to Taj Mahal in Agra. The white marble monument was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz. Recently declared as the one of the seven wonders of the world, the masterpiece is an example of Mughal architectural style. Gateway of India – Mumbai, Maharashtra


Built in a combination of Hindu and Muslim architectural style, Gateway is a basalt arch, measuring about 26 meters high. Its central dome is 15 meters in diameter, while it is 26 meters above the ground. It is located on the waterfront in Apollo Bunder area in South Mumbai and is greatly explored by cruises lovers, fisher folk and sightseers.


The Qutub Minar - New Delhi


With measuring an height of 72.5 m, Qutub Minar is the tallest brick minaret in the whole world. Its construction was commenced in 1193 under the regime of Qutub-ud-din-Aibak and was completed in 1386 by Firuz Shah Tughluq. The Minar is a perfect example of Indo-Islamic architectural style and a few years back, it has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.


The Hawa Mahal - Jaipur, Rajasthan


Hawa Mahal, meaning, the Palace of Winds, exhibits the Rajasthani architecture at its best. It was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. It has five stories and its design of the Mahal reflects the strong influence of Mughal architecture. The palace complex has 953 small windows, facing the street and the cool breeze flows through the opening, thereby giving its name.

Cellular Jail – Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands


Also, known as Kala Pani, the Cellular Jail is a notable attraction in Andaman and Nicobar Island. History says that it was a prison to many remarkable Indian activities during the freedom struggle for India. Its constructed was started in 1896 and completed in 1906. The historical building has 7 wings and 98 cells.


Vidhan Soudha – Bangalore, Karnataka


The imposing Vidha Soudha is one of the major attractions in Bangalore. With a fusion of architectural style it was constructed in 1950. Keen observer can easily note the Neo-Dravidian and Indo-Saracenic style used. Also, the shimmering jharokha in the monument reflects the Rajasthani style. The building sprawls over an area of 700 by 350 feet and is the largest Legislative building in India.
