Introduction:

This study will be aim at determining which method the phonics method of teaching or the context support method is efficient. The independent variable include the teaching method and age while the dependent variable will be the score achieved.

Sampling:

A random sample will be selected from the population which will be a selected school, children aged four to eight years will be selected and a sample size n=100 selected. The random sampling method is appropriate given that it introduces probability into a study and inferences made on the sample will represent the entire population.

Data collection method:

Teaching will be undertaken on 50 participants using the phonics method and the context support method used on the other 50 participants, in each case  the same set of words will be taught and scores achieved by each participant, teaching method and age of participants recorded.

Statistical technique:

The two sample method will be used to determine which method is more effective, the mean score will be compared and a two independent sample hypothesis test undertaken. Results will be tested at the 95% level of test and conclusion made with reference to the results of the hypothesis test.

Conclusion:

The above study will be undertaken to determine the most appropriate teaching method, an experiment will be undertaken on a random sample n=100 and the sample will further be subdivided whereby the phonics method and the context support method will be used on the samples.
