PG Diploma in Nanotechnology

One of the Delhi University - MAITREYI College to provide a postgraduate diploma in nanotechnology. The diploma programme was
started as a short-term course under UGC’s ‘Innovative Programme - Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas.’ The diploma program has been approved by the Executive Board of Delhi University. This year, the forms will be available from May 20 and the deadline for submission of forms is June 2, 2010.

Two years back, DU College started a short-term course in nanotechnology, but considering the growing interest in the subject and number of students applying. They made it into a one-year diploma course, in addition to the project work. Besides, Maitreyi College is also offering career oriented short-term courses of six-month duration in web designing and journalism for undergraduate students.

The Diploma course will encourage and cultivate creativity and innovative ideas among students on the fundamental and practical aspects of nanomaterials / nanotechnology and instrumentation to nanotechnology. A professional in nanotechnology field can explore career opportunities in various sectors like nanomedicine, stem cell development, pharmaceutical companies, and nanotoxicology NanoPower generation sector, as well as R & D laboratories.

With regard to eligibility, candidates must have 50% aggregate in any of these courses - BSC (H) Botany / Chemistry / Zoology / Physical electronics /, B.Sc. (Programme) of the life sciences / physical sciences and life sciences, applied physical and applied sciences, electronics, BTECH and BA (general) with relevant issues. Application forms for the PG Diploma in nanotechnology can be obtained from the university office on payment of Rs 100 or by demand draft in favor of Principal, Maitreyi College payable at New Delhi on all days work 10 am-1 pm.
