Razor bumps are not uncommon to men with coarse or curly hair. They are especially common for black men. Some statistics estimate that up to 83% of black men may experience razor bumps after shaving. Why?

The process of razor blade shaving actually cuts the hair at an angle, making it sharp. Curly hair will then curl back toward the skin, puncturing it, and the hairs become ingrown. This leads to red bumps and skin irritation, which can be very painful for some men.

If you’re already suffering from razor bumps, some of the suggested actions are to:

   1. Let your hair grow out for a while and give your skin a rest before shaving again and wear a small beard or a while.  At least 3 days should be enough time to heal.
   2. Treat your facial bumps immediately to prevent infection. Using a local antibiotic should suffice.
   3. Do not squeeze the bumps. That will tend to make things worse and prevents healing.

All the above actions are great.  However, an alternative to living and suffering the pain of razor bumps is to use Faceworks after each shave and let it help your skin to heal naturally.  Faceworks has no harmful chemicals and has an antiseptic already included. Not only will it help to eliminate razor bumps, but it will also moisturize your skin for a very noticeable difference.
If your problem persists, you will need to see a dermatologist.
