Leadership is the ability of an individual to motivate, influence and also contribute to the success of the organisation the members belong, a leader therefore must have the ability to motivate, influence and control the members of the organisation in which he leads. A leader will always be judged by the ability to achieve goals set, increasing productivity and the realisation of visions of an organisation.
My
personal behaviour as a leader that influences others:
Leadership is the ability of an individual
to motivate, influence and also contribute to the success of the organisation
the members belong, a leader therefore must have the ability to motivate, influence
and control the members of the organisation in which he leads. A leader will
always be judged by the ability to achieve goals set, increasing productivity
and the realisation of visions of an organisation.
A leader should always therefore put the needs
of others before his needs in order for him to be termed as an effective
leader. He must also know how to relate with his team mates and also how to
persuade and control his group.
Behaviour
that motivate and influence others:
One of the behaviour that will influence
others as a leader is that one must improve his or her own performance, as a
leader if one improves his performance and being ahead of the others in the
team will influence others. Improved performance should also be followed by the
ability to make fewer errors in duties performed, this will influence others if
ones performance in his duties is characterised by zero errors.
The other important thing to consider as a
leader is that one must have confidence, personal confidence is very important
when one is a leader, the other important factor is that a leader should have
self control, one must be in a position to control himself in terms of
emotional control when performing official duties as leader and this will
enable a leader to always to be aware of what he does, what he hears and what
he sees.
A leader should be optimistic and must be
ready to act when an opportunity arises, this will also show the level of
commitment of a leader in achieving set goals and objectives of the organisation.
A leader should also be aware of the views of the members, he must be aware of
the development needs of the members and implement them and in this way he will
be in a position to influence others.
A leader must be in a position to
communicate to his or her members, he must have good communication skills and
also have the tactics which persuades and influence members behaviour in the
organisation. Therefore a leader must have tactics that aid in persuasion of
his team mates or members of his organisation.
A leader just also have the ability and
methods in which he raises his self esteem, this helps in the motivation and
influencing the behaviour of members as the members will tend to behave and act
as the leader. Even after boosting self esteem a leader should listen to his
members and learn how to communicate and relate with them.
Leaders should therefore be a good example
to the members and team mates through better performance, higher self esteem
and have good communication skills that enable him to persuade his team mates.
A leader therefore will set the pace which his team mates should follow, for
him to be followed and influence the behaviour others he must show the ability
to achieve set goals, reduce costs and solve problems that are faced by
organisation.
