You might have heard of Clickank and Adsense. Just what are the differences anyway? They both are ways to monetize your website, but there is a world of difference between the two.

The advertisement strategy of Clickbank and Adsense has a vast difference. In Clickbank the earning is through selling the product advertised, whereas in Google's Adsense, the publisher earns when the website visitor clicks on the displayed advertisement.

Clickbank is an online shopping website which allows marketers to sell products and services. Clickbank marketplace generally covers e-books. Using Clickbank company marketers can sell other products as well. Clickbank enables its publishers to place ads and reviews on the publisher's website. When a website visitor clicks on one of these advertisments or reviews the user is taken to the product page where the potential customer can make a purchase of that particular product. The publisher earns a commission if and only if the website visitor makes a purchase of the advertised product.

The idea behind Google's Adsense is completely different. As an Adsense publisher you can generate advertisements using the Adsense's tool which allows you to customize the appearance of ads according to the publisher's website. When the ad is placed on the web page at appropriate locations, the ads relevant to the page are automatically delivered. This enables the publisher to show only the ad which would interest the website visitor. Thus the visitor is targeted with an appropriate advertisement.

In Adsense, the publisher earns a commission when the user clicks on one of the advertisement. The amount of money earned per click in Adsense is fairly less compared to the amount of money earned when a purchase is made by the website visitor using Clickbank's advertised product. In Clickbank the publisher can earn around $20 or even more with every purchase whereas in Adsense, each click makes the publisher richer by 5 cents to 25 cents or even more. Providing advertisement at the right place would enhance the earning made in Adsense as the probability of clicking the ads is more rather than clicking the ad and purchasing the advertised product as in case of Clickbank.

One major problem with Clickbank is its inability to track the activity of user clicks. With Clickbank it is not possible to track the process the user goes through while making or not making a purchase and hence working of Clickbank is not as transparent as Google's Adsense.
