I know that this may sound harsh, but actually it is harsh. The grim realities are that since I started in this industry in 1986, the percentage of overweight and obese people has almost doubled. And yes I know that we’re all sick and tired of hearing these statistics all of the time, but perhaps that’s the whole point. People all around the world depend on perceptions and it is an essential point to be more realistic towards our health oriented needs. It is a self explanatory resolution that brings forth an emotional need which in turn add values to our ever-enriching life.

Perhaps you’ve used some of these excuses before, I know I had. In fact I used all of them as I struggled to lose just over 3 stone (20 kilos). Eventually though I realized that actually these were all just that – excuses. Once I stopped blaming everything or everyone else for the fact that I was overweight, I decided to accept responsibility and do something about getting my weight down through one of the weight loss programs.

Was it easy – well actually yes because I found something that worked for me, and that’s crucial. Most people associate weight loss with ‘pain’. If it’s not hurting, it’s not working - right?

Actually that’s wrong

If it’s too painful, you’ll never stick to it, and at best lose weight - a few pounds or kilos before giving up. I know this because I’ve been there. So find something you enjoy because it’s going to take time to lose your weight. You didn’t gain it all overnight, and you’re not going to lose it all overnight either.

And if this all sounds like too much work, compare how you feel about being overweight to how you’d feel having lost it all.

Ask yourself these important questions:

· Do you feel good when you look in the mirror?

· Feel good when you struggle to fit in your favourite clothes?

· Feel good when you’re out of breath trying to play with your children

· Fell good when you see old pictures of yourself when you were slimmer?

If you’re overweight, you are one of these statistics, and you’re probably sick and tired of being sick and tired yourself.
