Most people in the gym seem to gravitate toward cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals, or focus only on free weights and weight machines, there is nothing like exercise on a rowing machine to work your entire body in a short amount of time.
Whether you are a long standing fitness club member or you are trying to squeeze in the time to do a little home workout, you might consider rowing machine exercise to best take care of your whole body. That’s right, most people in the gym seem to gravitate toward cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals, or focus only on free weights and weight machines, there is nothing like exercise on a rowing machine to work your entire body in a short amount of time. Combine the elements of strength and fitness in one intense and efficient routine.

And, given the size of rowing machines, you can easily find space at home to do this kind of exercise there as well. Now that the importance of overall fitness has become clear to more and more people, exercise devotees are starting to realize the importance and effectiveness of rowing machine exercise. You can get the same results regardless of where you do it.

In 25 to 30 minutes on a rower, you can achieve an incredible full-body workout. With the movement that is involved you not only get an intense cardiovascular workout, but you effectively work the muscles in your legs, arms, back and shoulders as well. In many of the gyms and fitness centers you will find rowers made by Concept II, Lifecore, Kettler, and Tunturi, to name a few. These are all commercial grade machines that give you a smooth workout that accurately simulate the real life rowing experience.

And, as was mentioned before, these machines are perfect for home use as well. Many of them are in the $800.00 to $1,500.00 range, but if you are looking for something to supply you with the bulk of your workout, this is the way to go. When compared to similar top of the line treadmills and ellipticals, rowing machine exercise is significantly less expensive and more all encompassing.

Many of the regular gym goers enjoy having a rower for home use to complement what the do at the health club. That way they are insured of getting in a complete workout even on those days where they can’t make it to the gym. At home, you need not worry about additional thousands of dollars of exercise equipment when you have a rower as your base gym machine. At most you’ll need a pair of dumbbells and a simple bench to add a little chest workout to your rowing exercise.

Really, if you want to combine strength, overall fitness, health, and conditioning into one goal, rowing machine exercise is the ideal way to achieve that. Do it at the gym or do it at home. Give it a try and I am sure that you too will be convinced of its overall effectiveness.
