Love Hurts

Loveletter was the worm that every one hated in the spring of 2000. This dangerous virus affected millions of computers worldwide and many experts are of the view that this has been one of the most devastating computer viruses to date.

       This computer virus spread through emails, internet chat systems, and shared file systems. Once this virus infected a PC, it used to send copies of itself including an executable file attachment with the e-mail subject line, "ILOVEYOU", through address book entries of Microsoft Outlook. By overwriting several file types, this virus altered Internet start pages and registry keys.

Klez the Conqueror

In October 2001, the Klez worm that exhibited traits of different viruses surfaced. This virus had the ability to act like a virus, Trojan horse, and worm at different times and was difficult to get away with or remove. The virus was extremely dangerous in the sense that it had the ability to masquerade as a tool for removing worms. Potent of disabling anti-virus programs and corrupting files, this was one virus that spread through open networks and emails.

Melissa virus

In March 1999, corporate networks all over the world were swamped by the Melissa virus. This virus was dangerous in the sense that it used to spread to the first fifty names in the address book of Microsoft Outlook program as soon as the email containing the virus was opened. Since emails including the virus were sent to many from a known address, effects of this virus were more than any other virus at that time.
