Suffering from neck pain is such a hassle. Getting a stiff neck isn’t
just a bothersome occurrence but it can also be very painful if not
treated immediately. Neck pains are usually brought about by muscle
strains or muscle spasms and tensions. Either way, having a stiff neck
can be extremely painful.
Neck pains usually happen overnight. It may have been caused by improper
sleeping position or maybe even the pillow you used was either too high
or too low. If you’re having so much trouble with your stiff neck, here
are a few things you can try at home to reduce the pain.
• First, you can apply a cold compress on your neck to relieve it
from the tension for about 20 minutes.
• Next, when sleeping, you can opt to wear a neck brace (although
this may get uncomfortable) or refrain from sleeping with your head
resting on one side. If you can, try sleeping on your back and not
on your abdomen. This reduces your chances of resting a side of your
face for a long time.
• Third, try doing some subtle neck exercises when you feel that
you can already handle it. Try gently twisting your neck in a clockwise
rotation then do counterclockwise afterward. If there’s just too much
pain, don’t force yourself to be able to rotate it immediately.
• Forth, get a proper comfortable bed to get relaxed on, and an
ergonomic pillow that matches your need so that you can sleep on your preferred posture and release the
neck pain.
• Last, visit a doctor who can help you with your neck pain. They may give you special ointments or medications to take in order to fix your muscular problem faster.
