Do you catch yourself tossing and turning at night trying to get
a good and comfortable position before you sleep? Or have you
ever experienced staying so late in the wee hours of the morning,
without yawning or feeling remotely tired and sleepy? Are you
having trouble sleeping? Do you wish to just be like some people
who can go to sleep without stressing out about it?
Some people really aren’t built to easily go to sleep. Some have
insomnia, a condition that keeps people from falling asleep
easily at night. Insomniacs are usually nocturnal individuals,
those who have their body clock switched backwards and have
trouble sleeping at night. If you’re an insomniac, there are some
things you can do to cure your bad sleeping habits, and possibly
turn your body clock back to its rightful place.
If you acquired your condition because of the work you have
(having a graveyard shift), then you should probably think twice
about your job. If you can be switched to a day shift, good for
you but if not, then maybe you should start job hunting for one
that doesn’t require you to work late at night.
Another thing that you can do is to reduce eating sugar before
going to bed. Sugar or caffeine will not help you in getting
sleep and on the other, will help let you stay awake longer.
If all else fails, visit a doctor and ask if you can start taking
sleeping pills. These pills should definitely put you to sleep
immediately.
And last but no least, what you definitely should try, is an
ergonomic pillow that follows the contour of your head and neck,
and keeps it from getting into painful sleeping positions through
the night.
