Types of Wedding Marquees

Outdoors wedding venues are a choice for many couples.If you fall into this category, then you should consider hiring a marquee.

Marquees are available in different shapes, sizes and styles to suit different occasions.  They add style and sophistication to a venue while creating a unique atmosphere.

They are available in a variety of styles to embody the specialness of an event, themed or otherwise.

Hiring a wedding marquee has several advantages. The marquee enables you to welcome your guests at a convenient venue without time constraints.

The bride and groom can choose from a wide selection of marquees designed to go with specific themes. There are long ones, square marquee, L-shaped marquee, romantic marquee and classical themed marquee.

Marquees also have many decorative possibilities and can accommodate as many as eight hundred people. If you are planning to hold a wedding outdoors, there are four popular options that you can go for:

Framed Marquee

They are built on a strong metal frame and come complete with hard floor structured walls and windows.  This type of marquee is large enough to section off parts using extra walls. Hence, you can have a bar area, dining area and a dance floor as part of your framed marquee.

    Their design incorporates air conditioning, heating and lighting facilities. They are perfect for large formal weddings especially in winter or summer when weather changes unexpectedly.

Framed marquees are quite costly with set up fees but are worth every penny

Traditional Canvas Marquee

A traditional marquee would suit a gardened themed wedding held in late summer, spring and autumn. It allows for guests to be both inside the marquee and out side.

They are more suitable for smaller private garden weddings. You can accessorize them with wrought iron furniture to give a lovely effect.

Traditional marquees are more flexible than framed ones as the sides can be removed in good weather. They can however be troublesome if it starts to get windy or rain starts to fall.

Traditional marquee are usually erected on poles with ropes and tent pegs to keep them upright and secured.

 Bedouin or Indian Tents

The difference between Bedouin and the above two is mostly the interior décor. A Bedouin could either be frame or traditional built. It could even be an open pavilion or canopy design. The stylish interior with exotic and luxurious ambience is what sets Bedouins apart.

The walls and ceilings are adorned with various colors and draped with Moroccan or Indian fabrics. They are mostly suited for evening parties or weddings since it can get quite dark inside.  

  Tepee Style Marquee

These are party tents built on a tripod arrangement of poles with interior guy ropes and exposed beams. They are less formal than framed or traditional marquees and they provide a room for conversation.

Cowboy and Indian style tepees can be ideal for having drinks or guest reception out doors. For a full outdoor wedding you can hire kata marquees, which can be connected together to form a tent village.
