Today in our society it is too easy for children to spend their time lying on a couch or on their bed watching television. Many health professionals think that any more than 1.5 hour of time spent watching television per day for children is not good. Television does not require any interaction. Yes it is entertaining, but that's where it stops. It does not allow an individual to workout the mind or the body. So, the first thing is to get your kids up off the couch and not watch any more than 1 1/2 hours of television per day.

 

The computer and <a href="http://www.bikeracksforcarsandtrucks.com/">computer games</a> are another problem that can contribute to childhood obesity. For the most part these can be done sitting where there is no physical pastime taking place. Too much time in front of a computer can also lead to eye strain and other problems. The exception to this is the new technology presented with the Nintendo Wii game system. This is a computer game that requires a certain amount of physical activity with the controllers. But in regular, it is a good idea to get your kids off their chair and out from in front of their computer and computer games.

 

Why do kids pursue in these two activities? Just ask them and they will tell you. They will say they are bored and have nothing to do.

 

The answer is to help your kids find a fun new hobby that will require them to become physical active. Hobbies can be very beneficial and can excite and challenge the mind. They can be therapeutic and help relieve stress. They can also help a person become more fit and lose weight, especially sport hobbies.
