Five Ways to Make your Front Yard Garden NOT Boring

Does your front yard look like everyone else's, with a smattering of flowers and little real design? If you are ready to play the role of a landscaper or hire a landscape designer to dress up the space, you need to know what to do to make your yard the focal point of the neighbourhood. With these five ideas, your front yard garden will not be boring!

1. Add Water

You may already have a backyard garden pond or water feature in your backyard space, but you can also add this to the front yard. A simple garden fountain, for instance, does not cost much, but instantly dresses up your outdoor space.

2. Utilize Rocks

A large, colourful boulder makes a landscaping design element when placed at a strategic point in your garden. You can also use stones instead of concrete to make a walking path or even to line your driveway, adding a decorative element once again. Consider lining your garden with beautiful rocks or building that retaining wall with stones rather than bricks.

3. Don’t Forget the Green

In an attempt to make their front gardens beautiful, many gardeners forget to add shrubs and other green plants. Use shrubs, herbs and trees to add continuity to your outdoor space and serve as a fresh backdrop to your gorgeous flowers.

4. Add Lighting

Whether you light the path from your front door to your driveway or add a decorative lantern to your garden to shed light on a favourite flower, lighting makes your front yard look dramatic, even after dark. Choose lights that add to the design, even when they are not on, with their decorative designs. Solar powered options make this an affordable investment that will not drain your resources.

5. Get Off the Ground

Not all plants have to be planted in the ground. Consider investing in some hanging pots or pots on a stand. This can help you add dimension and even more colour to your front yard design, which will ensure it is not boring.
