House training is the first thing that has to be done when you adopt a puppy. This will save a lot of work later including cleaning up accidents like poop. This period will be the hardest for both you and your pup. You need to work towards it, meaning if you are lazy; you should not have got the pup in the first place.


There are few things that will bring a smile on a child’s face like owning a puppy, but it comes with responsibilities as well. One has to train it to behave properly including house training.


House training

House training is the first thing that has to be done when you adopt a puppy. This will save a lot of work later including cleaning up accidents like poop. This period will be the hardest for both you and your pup. You need to work towards it, meaning if you are lazy; you should not have got the pup in the first place.


Grooming your dog

You need to properly groom your dog because it will affect his health and well being. Grooming includes cutting nails and trimming hair. A dog should be properly groomed during all seasons, especially during winter.


Obedience training

Training you dog to obey your commands is very important. The time taken to train a dog will vary according to the methods used, the breed of the dog, and how well the dog and owner understand each other.


There are four P’s that one should remember while training a puppy – practice, persistence, patience, and praise though not necessarily in that order.


A problem that dog owners face is excessive barking. There are many reasons why a dog may bark excessively. This can happen when a dog that feels abandoned or is placed in an environment that is not exciting enough.


Another problem faced is shedding of hair. This varies one breed to another. Some may not seem to shed any hair at all, while others seem to shed a lot of hair. Shedding of hair can happen during a certain seasons. This problem can be reduced to a certain extent by proper grooming.


Exercising your dog is very important, but you should remember not to push them too hard. The amount of exercise needed for each dog will vary, depending on their breed, health, and age.
