Women drivers, beware! Keep all your doors locked when driving at night and ensure that you always have your self-defense weapons ready. Always take the route you are most familiar with and only choose well-lighted roads.
Driving alone at night time is most dangerous especially if you're a woman. If you must drive then at least follow some tips below that would help you keep yourself safe from attackers. Self-defense weapons like, stun guns, pepper spray, and mace are readily available in the market. Stick to the route that you know best. When traveling always take the route that has more traffic and keep away from roads that are isolated from the highway.

Don't let your attacker reach you. Keeping your doors locked and your windows rolled up ensures you that the attacker stays outside and you inside. Be observant of your surroundings. You are most vulnerable when you are at a stop, so at intersections keep a watchful eye of warning signs like motorist signaling you that someone is trying to get inside your car. Modern day vehicles are usually equipped with anti-theft security system so every time you get off the car, don't forget to switch it on.

As much as possible, don't stay too long at parking lots. Choose a space that's well lighted and is close to the building's entrance then go. Watch out for suspicious vehicles like windowless vans, huge vans with tinted windows. These are vehicles often used by kidnappers and attackers. You wouldn't want yourself abducted and thrown inside because people won't be able to see you calling for help inside these cars.

Don't leave the engine running. A thief only needs a few minutes to be able to steal a car. You're doing him a favor by leaving the car turned on. Don't forget to lock all sides of the door. Never ever leave children behind. Getting them kidnapped is the last thing you'd want to happen. You are not only burdening yourself but your also bringing physical and emotional trauma to the children.

Emergency kits should always be ready inside your car. A two-way radio would come in handy in case your phone dies out and you need to call for help. Flashlights are really useful especially when your attacker throws you at the compartment. Turn on your flashlight and locate the taillights. Give it a good kick and scream for help. You can place your hand outside to distract motorist and call for help.

To avoid falling victim to these attackers, it is best to plan your safety and well-being and save yourself the trouble of being kidnapped.
