So what can those poor commuters do with the time that’s being wasted driving a car, sitting on a bus or riding the subway to work?

If the time is used wisely, staff can get up to a plethora of tasks during the commute, which could make the journey far more interesting and fruitful.
Here’s a list of things you can be getting up to if you want to make the most of your commute.

Read – this is an old favourite, which never goes amiss on journeys ranging from ten minutes to ten hours. Board the train with a fiction classic or modern great and you’ll be enveloped in an imaginary world that smells far better than your real life surroundings. If you’re travelling an hour a day you’ll be able to race through a multitude of chapters in no time. Head to charity shops to find cheap books that you can enjoy and return a few days later for a few cents or become a member of the local library again and borrow to your heart’s content.

Plan the grocery shop – for a working couple, the evening meal needs to be rustled up fast and hassle-free. A little planning can go a long way to creating dishes that are cheap and flavourful as well as rapidly prepared. If you manage to scramble yourself a seat on the train with a table, prop up your laptop and write a list or order food online that will reach your abode directly and quickly.

Work – if you are working on a heavy presentation or aiming for a promotion you may need to put in a couple of extra hours to show your underlying talents and abilities. Plan your plan of attack, speak to people who can guide you or complete your statistical report early to get a head start on the day enabling you to finish the remainder of your queued up assignments in the office. When you wander across your Columbus office floor space you’ll impress the boss with aplomb.
