Here are 4 tips to creating the perfect design that will provide the right blend of beauty and functionality:

1. Selecting a uniform design where all parts compliment the whole. This means that you will use materials and colors that are coordinated and create a theme. Some people achieve this through the color scheme of plants, flowers, and materials they use. Some people think about this in regards to the plants and flowers they choose, but forget the importance of creating a consistent and blended design using height and size. Grouping your plants in the right way will make your design flourish. .

2. Color is the key component to your landscape design. It is the colors you choose that are going to make or break your theme. You should learn which colors are associated with certain themes. If you have colors you like, then select a theme that compliments. If you have a theme you want to use, then learn which colors are best for that theme. Learn how to mix colors and which colors are dominant ones to create focal points.

3. Utilize lines to provide flow in your landscape. You will want a combination of curved and straight lines. Lines aren’t only created by plants and flowers. Using elements such as sidewalks, pavers, and bridges can create elements you will enjoy.
