Shooting the ball and high jumps are the essence of basketball. If you want to dunk the ball, try practicing with ankle weights when you jump. Supposedly, these ankle weights will help your legs function better when they are removed because without them, your legs and ankles will feel much lighter - thus, you jump higher.
For all those people who are basketball fans, but find it hard to play well, there is some good news. The thing that hinders one’s performance the most is not being able to jump high enough, to reach the board and dunk the ball.
If it was not for dunking the ball in the basket, the whole aim of the game would be lost. Wanting badly to do this thing just right, so that the whole team praises you and considers you one of the best players is just natural. You can now work on making your jumps high enough to make this part easy for you.
You just need to grab ankle weights from the nearest sport store. Once you have purchased one pair for yourself, keep a few important things in mind while wearing it. Once you have wrapped them around your ankles, decrease your speed and do not walk with the same pace as before.
Ankle weights work by making your feet and legs accustomed to moving around with heavy weights attached. After you have taken the weights off, your ankles, feet and legs which had become used to the heavy weights, find the lighter ankles much easier to carry around. This is why your legs function better and you can make long jumps.
While you had tied the weights around, they were helping you out by making your leg muscles strong enough to withstand heavy weight, so that they can later support your high jumps without ending up being sprained.
Other methods include exercises with the weight attached, such as going for jogging or practicing jumps. You can practice this by using any bar raised up.
Another method that a lot of people attempt to do is tying even more heavy weights than the usual. This is done under the impression that it would make the muscles become even more strong. However, this does not seem to work well, as you may end up seriously harming your knee, which is not made to bear so much weight.
