Educational soft toys are perfect – a safe and inspiring way to get young children’s eyes and minds working. They are also safe and harmless for your little kid.
Everyone has worried, at some time or another, that the toy or gift they are giving to a child, while fun, might contain some hard part or small part that could cause problems. Kids, of course, like to play with vigour, investigating every possible use of their possession: learning aid, projectile, friend, and building block. Name it and a child has tried to use a toy for it. Which is why soft toys are the ideal gifts and learning aids for young children: completely safe, bereft of small or breakable parts and designed to expand young minds into the bargain.
The toys a child gets during his or her first few years of life are the most important he or she will ever have. These are the years when a child starts learning hand and eye co ordination; and these are the years when he or she starts to develop his or her pattern recognition skills. As such, soft toys with bold, contrasting colour schemes (black and white is good for children in their first year) are able to promote proper cognitive development whilst giving the child something fun to play with and ensuring that the adults don’t have to constantly watch over it.
The toys a very young child plays with are also major players in unlocking that child’s creativity, or analytical skills – or whatever characteristic will most define him or her in later life. We learn almost all of our preferences in terms of inquisitiveness – whether we like to be creative, to draw and paint; or analytic, observing and noting – when playing in our earliest years. Toy manufacturers know this and supply a great deal of soft toys for children in their first four years of life that are specifically designed to help unlock a child’s preference.
A soft toy makes a great birthday, christening or Christmas present. Imagine the relief of the parents, too, when you unbelt something that isn’t going to get stuck in anyone’s ear, or end up breaking and causing injury to brothers and sisters. Why not think about getting a child his or her favourite character, from books or TV, in cuddly toy form? Everyone needs a special cuddly toy, when they’re young – the selection of soft toys embodying favourite characters from classic stories, as well as films and TV, is enough to guarantee the perfect gift for any little tearaway.
Sites like Toys and Learning, which have structured their selection of soft toys into easy age groups as well as intended uses (educational toys, classic wooden toys and so on) are the easiest places to go looking for a soft toy for one’s child, or as a present for someone else’s. That means no time trudging aimlessly up and down the aisles of toy superstores in unprepossessing town centres – and, usually, free delivery as well. Buying a soft toy isn’t just the safe and educational option – it’s the easiest one too.
