If your in debt, you may be unsure what you should do to clear it - here's a guide to help you on your way to becoming debt free.

I'm in debt and I'm not sure what to do next.

Basically, I ended up taking on debt during the second half of 2009 to afford my costs. It's not much debt, but I've never been in debt before so I'm not sure what I should actually do!

I have done a little bit of reading on the internet, and I do have several options. These are:
Seek debt help
The first option I discovered was to seek debt help. Basically, I could contact a professional debt adviser and ask for help with my debts.

They would assess my situation, let me know what they thought, and offer me help based on their assessment.

This kind of debt help is often provided for free, but can cost if it involves more than advice.
Sort my problem out myself
My second option would be to deal with my debts on my own - in other words, without the help of any debt advisers.

This may be the more stressful option of the two, but it could give me a greater sense of satisfaction once my debts have been repaid.

However, I have discovered a potential problem with this option, and that is that I may make mistakes if I handle my debts on my own, whereas if I looked for debt help, the debt adviser would probably help me avoid making mistakes.

It's all a bit confusing for me at the moment, but I will think about it some more. The main - and most important - thing is that I will become debt free' and if that means seeking debt help, then that is what I will do!

If your in debt, debt" adviserscan help you on your way to becoming debt free.
