It is a dream for many people to start a life in a new country and one celebrity has admitted she would consider making such a transition.
It is a dream for many people to start a life in a new country and one celebrity has admitted she would consider making such a transition.

American burlesque performer Dita Von Teese is currently appearing in shows at the Crazy Horse in Paris and, in an interview with French newspaper the Connexion, she revealed she has not ruled out the idea of moving to France.

However, she would only do so if the right property came up, she noted.

The 37-year-old remarked: "If I could manage to have a real home with a garden, then yes ... I could imagine that. But I don't think I could always live in an apartment setting, no matter how beautiful and grand it is."

She added that moving to France is something she does only on a short-term basis at present.

Teese stated: "I usually spend a month to two months in Paris while I am working throughout Europe - it makes it easier than travelling to and from Hollywood all the time."

While in the city, she spends most of her time taking French lessons, shopping in markets for food she can prepare at home and trying out new restaurants.

According to the star, living in the capital city is very different from being a tourist there and she conceded that, despite her efforts to learn the language, she still has problems.

She added it is a "complicated language" and she must accept she will probably always make mistakes while trying to use it.

Anyone in Britain thinking of setting up roots in the country and elsewhere in Europe - including those planning on moving to Germany - may benefit from the fact the pound has gained strength compared with the euro over recent months.

To make their lives easier when moving to Germany or another country, people may benefit from taking language lessons before they set off.
