What Do Colors Mean?

There are a lot of colors in this world and we should greatly appreciate that. If not for colors, this earth would just be one big pile of blank nothingness. Colors often symbolize something and by reading this article you would know what they mean. So read on!
We see a lot of colors around us. Everything in this world has color. There are colors that do not please our preference and there are some that attracts our interest and attention. Most of the time we wonder what would the specific color mean. Color meanings differ in different places, different culture and different expression. Red is the first color on the list. It symbolizes love and passion. It also means self-assurance, warmth and bravery. Flags all over the world with red color mean differently. The red color in the flag of South Africa represents the death of their heroes who fought for the freedom of their nation. However, the red color in the flag of Russia symbolizes beauty. The color red in the streets means “stop” as reflected by the red light in the traffic light.

Green stands for fertility and youth. It is also the opposite color of red on the street for it means “go”. Green is also associated to spring and the beginning of a new year for it means new life and hope. The color green also means victory. In some culture, green is related to jealousy and envy.

Blue is a cool color that is why it is related to calmness and tranquility. Victory is the meaning of blue in some cultures and in some, it means grief. Blue also means love and loyalty.

The color yellow is filled with many meanings. It serves as a sign to give people warning about something. In some cultures, yellow means jealousy, greed and cowardice. In Egypt, the color means mourning, however, it means spring in India.

These are just some of the meanings of the color we see around us. What the color signifies can differ from one place to another. Nonetheless, it is the people who give colors their meaning and the colors bear the meaning of what the people want them to mean.
