People from different parts of the world sees the Philippines as an old-fashioned country and its progress is very slow. This might be for the reason that Philippines is considered as a third world country and is a part of Asia. This mindset about the Philippines as being old-fashioned does not end on the country’s progress. Some think that even in dating, Filipinos are very old-fashioned.

The Filipino people have very strong faith. They express this faith by never failing to attend and hear the mass on Sundays. They also pray and give thanks to the Lord before eating. Philippines is rich in traditions and most of the beliefs of the country are totally fixed to its culture. But these did not hinder the Filipinos to change and adapt with the world. Filipinos go with the flow and they adjust with the changes around them.

Dating in the Philippines is one of the things considered to have changed with time. Currently, however, there are still many wrong beliefs about dating and romantic relationships. The Philippines is viewed as conservative country and people from all over the world believe that Filipinos are still old-fashioned when it comes to relationships. Women are also seen as passive and inexperienced. Even though there are people who prefer to follow the tradition, most of the Filipinos are coping with the things around them. Due to the advancement of technology, hi-tech gadgets, internet and media, the young Filipino generation greatly differ from the older Filipino generation.

Courtship in the Philippines is not the same as it was in the old times. Things change and so as Filipinos’ way of courtship. Older people may insist of following the traditional ways of courtship, but there are still things that they cannot keep from changing. Nowadays, Filipinos explore the possibility of finding their true love through the internet or other means made possible by technology. Both Filipino men and women are expanding their circle by meeting and making friends with people from different parts of the world. They are even more open to the opportunity of finding their better half though internet with hope of meeting each other in person and settle down.

Common wrong beliefs about courtship in the Philippines are directed towards Filipinas. Filipinas are perceived by foreigners as individuals with low order of thinking skills and they inexperienced. The quiet nature of Filipinas as well as their gentleness is misinterpreted to be signs of low self-esteem and lack of knowledge.

People from other countries also think that Filipinas date foreigners for money. Sadly, there are really women who just go for the money. However, this does not only happen in the Philippines. This is true even in other countries. It is also a sad thing to know that people from other countries brand the Philippines as a country where women only look forward to the wealth of a man where in reality not all Filipinas are like that.
