Paintings, through the stroke, colors and patterns that were used in them, can evoke different emotions. There might be some paintings that are hard to define because of the strokes and the colors in the painting do not match with its title. The Last Judgment by Michelangelo is also one of the famous in the world. The Last Judgment depicts the second coming of Christ or the apocalypse. The painting shows the human souls rising and descending to their fate as judged by Christ with the saints around him. The fresco can be found in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City took four years for Michelangelo to finish.

A painting created by Pablo Picasso in 1905 is entitled Garçon à la Pipe is also one of the famous paintings in the world. Garçon à la Pipe also known as Boy with a pipe was painted by Picasso when he was still 24 years old. The painting was sold for 104,168, 000 USD at Sotheby’s Auction in New York in on May 5, 2005. The buyer of the painting was never revealed although it was thought to be the owner of the Barilla Group, Guido Barilla.

Another painting known in the world is the abstract painting of Jackson Pollock called No. 5, 1948. This is one of his paintings related to the abstract expressionist movement. The painting was created in an 8’ x 4’ sheet of fiberboard. It is said to have a nest-like appearance and it contained thick amount of brown and yellow paint sprinkled on top of it.
