Parents often are irritated when their children are suffering from intense crying. They shouldn't be. There are ways to relieve the baby of this unpleasant condition. Read this article for more information regarding colicky babies.
Colic babies are characterized by excessive crying during the first three months of development. Their crying pattern is usually not understandable by the parents, the babies suddenly starts crying and can cry well over 3 hours and as abruptly they stop crying.

The colic of babies is usually diagnosed by a simple rule of three. All the new parents should be aware of that as 20% babies turn out to be colicky babies. The rule is if your baby is crying for more than 3 hours without any apparent reason and usually cries three days a week and it keeps on happening for at least 3 months then your baby is a colicky baby.

Sometimes this routine frustrates the parents and the worried ones pace with emergency every now and then and some who are superstitious try to free the baby from evil.

The reason for this intense crying is usually the abdominal pain, the digestive system is trying to adjust with the food patterns and during digestion, it can produce gas, which will make the baby uncomfortable. However, do not mistake it with other medical issues if your baby stool is not normal and he is having the symptoms of diarrhea then do not waste time on guessing the problem, consult a doctor.

The best way to soothe a colicky baby is to hold him and pat him. If this does not help then do not get angry or frustrated. Let the baby cry and try not to create a noisy environment that can further irritate the baby.

When the digestive system of baby gets strong with time, this problem disappears on its own usually during the first 6 months. Mean while encourage breast-feeding and avoid all the foods which can cause gas to you or the baby. The food you take will have an effect on your breast feeding child.
