Speaking thoroughly often is a sign of confidence and stuttering, not so much. Stuttering children means that they are in a great deal of stress and no one is helping them cope up with it. Continue reading for more knowledge on why children stutter.
Children who stutter when talking are often unable to complete the sentence in one go. They usually get stuck on one syllable either they keep on repeating it or take a long pause to complete the word. Based on studies, it was found out that boys stutter more as compared to girls.

Why do boys stutter more? There is no proven answer but there are different evolutionary and biological theories about stuttering, which explain why boys are more at risk.

The medical circle believes that stuttering is a signal that your child is under stress. Though stress has a two-way path, when a child stutters, he may feel upset due to stuttering or he may stutter because he is upset. Some children suck their thumb when they are tense, cry or seek for attention through different means and some children just stutter, although it does not happen consciously.

Data shows that some children are carriers’ of the stuttering gene, and in most of them, it is set off if they face upsetting events. There is another theory which states that some children have a problem with the functioning of neurons which are responsible for sending speech signals to brain.

You may have heard of the term stammering which has the same meaning as stuttering. Stammering children notice their weakness and feel how other children are different, it can cause them to develop low self esteem.

Parents have a very strong influence on their children, if parents are a good model of confidence and behavior then the child automatically feels confident and good about himself. If your child stammers then just pat him on the back and provide him full affection and encourage him to try to speak complete words.

Stammering can be taken care of by different speech therapies easily but if parents ignore this problem and assume it will go on its own then their child might pay a price of this neglect in his adulthood by facing embarrassment and jokes on his stammering.
