Find out more about the yacht tourism in one of the most popular tourist destination - Bulgaria.

Yachting is incredible pleasure and a way of life for some, for others it is a real challenge to handle. The good geographical location of the east border of Bulgaria – the Black Sea, the attractive coastline – uneven southwards and with very high rocks towards north, the wide shallow-waters, the few harbor complexes, quays, wharfs and hydro-technical devices, the good traditions in yachting are creating great conditions for yacht tourism in Bulgaria.

In the last years some of the elite summer complexes and resorts have built yacht harbors. With good yachting facilities is the North side of the black sea. Some of the most famous resorts with ports are “Mermaid”, Tiulenovo, Balchik, Golden Sands and Varna. The harbor in Balchik is in the route of the biggest international regattas. There you can rent a yacht for a trip lasting several days, fishing or just sea picnic. The biggest yacht harbor is the one in Golden Sands. It gives the opportunity to charter a yacht or to hire a professional crew. There are some of the best yachts in Bulgaria, large ones that offer tours to Istanbul, yachts with many conveniences that could make the trip even better for you.

There are plans for two more yacht harbors on the North side of the Black Sea coast in the resorts of St. Constantine and Elena and in Biala. The projects for those are ready and already in construction.

The possibilities for yacht tourism on the South Black Sea coast are in Bourgas, the resorts of “St. Vlas”, Nesebar, Sozopol and The Dunes. The harbor in St. Vlas is with the biggest capacity – 300 yachts, with customized-houses, border police, shops, sport complex, medical center and all that is needed for the support of the yachts – workshop and service sections, cable TV, telephones, fax, electricity and water facilities. “Marina Dinevi” is the winner of the international investment prize Bentley.

There are two new projects on the South Black Sea coast for the building of yacht harbors at Pomorie, Tsarevo and Ahtopol. The project “Marina Pomorie” is divided into three zones – the international yacht harbor with custom control, port for the Bulgarian yachtsmen and a quay for yachts. The harbor in Tsarevo is the biggest one south of Bourgas and it is becoming center of the transport of the South side of Black Sea. According to the municipality direction the harbor will develop soon to yacht and passenger one and it is going to be with two parts – modern one and sport one which will be for the use of fishing.

Bulgaria (more info about Bulgaria here) is still not so famous destination for the foreign yachtsmen but the Black Sea coast line can offer a lot of things that deserve to be seen. It is going to be an exciting experience for the ones that haven’t seen it yet, and it will offer a getaway from the usual places you are already used to.
