So, you are due to start a new job in Leeds or you are looking to move into the city centre. Where do you start looking for flats?

The city centre flats in Leeds cover a wide area, stretching from the University in the north to Holbeck in the South.

It’s important to find out exactly where you are going to be working or catching the bus from first. The Train station is conveniently located near a huge range of flats, whereas the bus station is at the eastern end of town nearer echo central and the gateway.

This article aims to provide a guide to the best locations in the city:

The Northern Quarter.
This area is located around Vicar Lane and Merrion centre and is home to an odd mix of buildings. The Merrion centre contains a large supermarket and various other useful shops. Located nearby is Europe’s tallest student accommodation (the plaza) and various other student blocks. The area is served very well with transport links directly leading onto the motorway, so the northern quarter is a perfect choice if you need to commute by car.

The Eastern side of Leeds is home to Echo City and the Royal Armouries, which is a collection of flats under the ‘echo’ brand. The most noticeable are the echo central flats that are shaped like huge sails and offer an unrestricted view over south Leeds. Many of these developments offer a 10 min walk to the bus station and 15 mins walk to the city centre. Perfect for people working on the calls.

In South Leeds you will find The biggest collection of flats available. They range from the high quality and classy Clarence dock developments around the canal, to the numerous developments that line the banks of the river Aire. This prices in this area are very competitive and even though the area is father out of the city, it’s served well by a range of place to eat and small supermarkets.

To the West of Leeds you will find the high rising City Island development. This is situated on a virtual ‘island’ formed as the river splits into 2 and surrounds the flats. Living in this area has its drawbacks though, it’s a brisk 5 min walk down the canal to the station but visitors will have to be let in via a secure gate, or they face a long walk around the outside of the compound. The area is only a couple of years old, so any flats you might find here are bound to be of the highest quality.
