People love alcohol and no one can stop them from taking it. However, if one isn't careful enough, he or she could suffer from alcohol poisoning and that is never a good thing. Here are some information about alcohol poisoning that you should know.
Alcohol poisoning basically takes place due to an overdose of alcohol; that is consuming too much alcohol at one time. This condition occurs when an individual drinks excessive alcohol and its content rises far above the allowable levels in one’s body. This may lead to quite a number of problematic situations, due to the unpleasant symptoms that one may go through.
The level of alcohol that is being drunk plays a highly significant role in identifying the severity of this condition. However, there are a few additional factors that play a smaller role, but nevertheless do affect this condition. To being with, the metabolism of an individual is also responsible for causing the condition.
Some other factors include, the time of the day during which alcohol was being taken, and the concentration of the drink. Most of the time, people tend to mix in water or other soft drinks in their alcohol, so that the drink is of a lighter concentration. However, if a person is consuming too much of alcohol and that too of a high concentration, it may lead to a risky situation.
There are several symptoms that start occurring in case alcohol poisoning has taken place. These are evident enough to make one realize the importance of treatment and medical care, as in the case necessary steps are not taken, a life threatening situation may take place. The signs do not show up all at once, in one order.
Remember that the presence of any such symptoms that are mentioned below may require immediate steps to be taken, to ensure the health and well being of the person. The following are a few examples:
A person’s breathing rate may start to decline accompanied with a drop in body temperature. He or she may feel as if a severe illness has taken place, as some signs would also start affecting the person’s appearance, for example the skin turning blue or completely pale. This usually takes place because the person’s body gets dehydrated due to the excessive consumption of alcohol. Confusion also starts to occur, and eventually he or she might become unconscious.
Dizziness and extreme confusion are the trademark signs of alcohol consumption. However, all of these may be mild as compared to the following ones:
Seizures, irregularities in behavior and breathing rate, and difficulty in carrying out reflex actions may also occur.
