Succeeding
in ACN is difficult. There is an extremely low success rate, roughly
3-5%, but it is possible to succeed. There are several mistakes reps
make time and time again, but by using a few simple techniques, these
mistakes can be avoided, and you too can become successful with ACN.
Mistake
1: Selling to everyone and anyone
At
first glance, this seems like quite a good strategy. If you approach
absolutely everyone within three feet of you, then you have more
chance of making a sale. However, this strategy wastes time, money
and resources.

Segment your market.
Targeting
your audience ensures that you are only focusing on the segment of
customers who will provide you with the highest revenue. This segment
is the customers who are most likely to purchase your ACN products,
and use them regularly. By focusing on this key segment, you are not
wasting time and energy trying to acquire customers who are most
likely not interested or will not provide good revenue.
To
figure out which segment of the market this is will require some
market research. Categorize your market by key characteristics: age,
sex, location, phone habits, salary, lifestyle, likes, dislikes etc.,
etc. This will help you figure out the strongest customer segment.
Once this is established, you can begin to compile a marketing
strategy aimed specifically at this group.
For
example, if you are targeting college students, you should find out
the most popular hangouts, the most used websites and start your
campaign there.
Mistake
2: Wasting time trying to convince those who aren't interested
The
second mistake is wasting time trying to convince prospects who are
simply not interested. Even
exceptional sales reps know when to pull out of a pitch. If a
prospect is seriously not interested, there is no point wasting
another 5 minutes trying to convince them otherwise. This can turn
into a desperate plea, and will get you no where.
Solution:
Sort your market
Concentrate
on those who are interested, and who also qualify to purchase your
ACN products. This sorting method can be done by asking a series of
mini check-point questions throughout the sales pitch, instead of
delivering a 20 minute pitch to be told “I'm not interested”. The
mini check-points qualifies the prospect, and indicate whether or not
to continue with the sales pitch. If the prospect doesn't qualify,
then it's time to stop the sales pitch, and wish them well on their
way. This method ensures you are only talking to those who are
interested and minimizes time wasting.
The
two other common mistakes reps make is using old fashioned selling
techniques such as home parties, and giving up too easily. These
