Why select Lamy pens as gifts? Here we look at the Lamy brand in a little more detail and highlight two of their most successful pen series.
Lamy pens are used by choosey pen lovers the world over. But why all the fuss about this certain make of pen? Top answer will of course be the time and effort that Lamy puts into designing beautiful functional writing instruments. Below we give a little more insight into how Lamy started off and introduce you to two of the most loved creations. Once you have tried any of the Lamy pens you will see why people go out of their way to choose one. The great thing about Lamy is that there are pens to suit all budgets.
Let us first go back over 80 years when Josef Lamy took his first step into pen manufacturing by buying out the Orthos pen company in Germany. Here another big pen name takes a mention as previously Josef Lamy was an executive for Parker Pens. For the next twenty years Josef Lamy continued to manufacture under the name of Orthos. After the second world war he then manufactured under the Artus name. It was not until the early 1950s that Lamy Pens came into their own, and the company has been producing pens under that name since that date.
What makes Lamy pens so special is their functionality and design? What better pen to start with in their collection than the Lamy Safari. First of all, to make it clear, the Lamy Safari pen is not an expensive pen. This pens series was originally introduced to appeal to the student market (which incidentally still remains highly competitive in Europe to this day). Lamy pens in the Safari range have been manufactured to be durable yet great looking. These pens are made out ABS plastics and the pen barrel is molded to a triangular shape. This means it is exceptionally easy to grip when performing. What stands out with Safari pens is not only their great design but the amazing colours that they are available in.
The second collection of Lamy pens we are going to look at is the Lamy 200 series. A simple yet elegant design still puts this pen in the spotlight even after forty years. There have been hardly any tweaks to this pens design since it made its first appearance. Torpedoe like in shape these Lamy pens are wonderful in the hand and a pleasure to write with. The 2000 series comes in a range of hues and different materials such as Makralon and metal.
Unfortunately words cannot really explain the beauty and design of Lamy pens.
